Sudbury Shares
Reducing Food Waste One Cucumber at a Time
Good Food. Good Neighbors. Good Community.
Sudbury Shares is a grassroots collection of town residents who love to see things grow and appreciate the value of fresh food. We connect growers who have surplus veggies, eggs, fruits, flowers and other produce with residents of our community who can make use of them. Using the town clerk's office as a meeting spot, donations of garden extras are made available to be picked up ... free.
Keeping perfectly good produce out of gardener's compost bins is incentive enough, but Sudbury Shares strives to strengthen community ties by delivering these extras to town residents without easy access to fresh food. The service is maintained by volunteers who help by manning the produce stand and delivering portions to those who can't make it on Share Day.
All you need to do to be a part of this movement is to be a resident of Sudbury and have a willing heart to garden, volunteer, deliver surplus, or stop by the stand to pick up what you can use.
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” Margaret J. Wheatley
